At Goosehill, we provide a wide variety of opportunities for children to express their creativity across the curriculum. These include working with a range of different artists and other professionals to engage children and develop their creative skills. Children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and through pupil voice, direct the outcomes according to their interests and learning styles.
We regularly hold ‘collapsed curriculum’ projects where there is a whole school focus, where all aspects of art including dance, music and drama are explored. Past themes have included Africa, Water, Oriental Art and ‘Bridges’. There are also opportunities for children to work with those in other classes to produce a creative outcome. Parents are encouraged to participate in these activities and have a go themselves.
African Drumming and Dancing
Through our recent involvement with Creative Partnerships, children across the school have had the opportunity to work with architects, garden designers, woodworkers, proggy matters and metalworkers to develop their understanding of working with a range of materials in relation to their cultural heritage. Through this, pupils have developed problem solving skills, teamwork and their understanding of the use a range of tools and techniques within a creative environment.
